The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas presents Foster the People at The Boulevard Pool, Las Vegas, Nevada, October 20, 2011

Foster the People is considered by many to be the break out band of 2011.  The indie trio, who back in March of this year played a free show at The Cosmopolitan’s Book & Stage bar has quickly escalated into headliners playing sold out shows.

Mark Foster, who does triple duty as keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist, together with bassist Cubbie Fink, and drummer Mark Pontius, performed songs from their album, Torches, including the monster hit Pumped Up Kicks, the song that will be remembered as the soundtrack to the summer of 2011.  It’s a song that is infectious and upbeat musically yet sinister lyrically and that contrast makes it genius in my book.  This crowd however, knew more of the band than their hit song, and sang along the entire night, a strong sign of continued success.

Foster the People’s sold out show marked the end of The Cosmopolitan’s outdoor summer concert series at their Boulevard Pool venue.  I’m already looking forward to next year, it’s a perfect place to enjoy a concert under stars and the neon of the Las Vegas Strip.
