Red Hot Chili Peppers
Playing at Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL on Memorial Day to a sellout crowd, it did not take long for the crowd to get into the show.
Opening band, Little Dragon played a 30 minute set and got the crowd anxious for RHCP as the played a very eclectic style of music.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are if you did not know:
Anthony Kiedis – Vocals
Flea – Bass
Chad Smith – Drums
Josh Klinghoffer – Guitar
The stage setup for RHCP is massive, with several screens behind drummer Smith as well as screens that formed a circle above the guys. On each side high above, were spotlights ran by 5 guys on each side to light up the stage very well. Opening with, Monarchy of Roses off their latest album I’m With You, their 10 studio albums and once again, produced by Rick Rubin, shows off th
is new side to the RHCP. They followed up with Around the World and Dani California - both songs featured beautiful green lighting. Klinghoffer showcased his skills; while not the same as former guitarist, John Frusciante in regards to just being a beast on stage, he did show off some killer playing.
During Dani California, Kiedis took off his shirt, showing off his well known/built body. I will admit, the moustache did not look right. Smith displayed his skills on drums and his huge personality shown through his drum kit, as he was full of smiles. Flea was mesmerizing on the bass, showcasing why he has been voted one of the best players in rock.
For this show, I was not able to give a complete review and after my 3 songs had to leave, but they did play 20 songs and close to 2 hours and hope to catch them next time around to give a full review.
You can check out their website at http://redhotchilipeppers.com/tour as they tour overseas before coming back to Chicago to play at Lollapalooza as well as playing in Milwaukee, WI
