Chino Moreno and the Deftones boys spent a little time in Vegas recently supporting heavy hitters Avenge Sevenfold on their North American tour when they came busting through Sin City. The progressive postpunk group played a high energy performance at Mandalay Bay prior to Ax7’s set, with frontman Chino running and jumping all over the stage and belting out song after song, sans any down time to catch his breath, for a helluva show. Deftones knocked out an eleven song set that included “Diamond Eyes’, “Rocket Skates”, “My Own Summer (Shove it)”, “Change (In the House of Flies) and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away).  Most of the rest of the set was straight off their last cd release Koi No Yokan from 2012, and they rounded out with a final “7 Words”.

Chino was also spotted at the Slayer show the night before, what happens in Vegas never seems to go unnoticed. And quite a few celebs were seen side stage as the Deftones punched out their set, including Vinnie Paul and most of Hellyeah and a couple Slash Alumni rumored hanging backstage.
