Alice Cooper delivered a blazing coup de grâce in Las Vegas at the closing night of his Raise the Dead Tour, decked out as master of a deadly circus in red striped suit and tails and traditional cane, arriving amidst a fiery curtain of sparks as the expected “Hello Hooray” got the evening started. Cooper’s long reign as shock rock legend gave him a history of content to choose from, and he wove through decades of hits and theatrics for a energetic crowd with snakes, guillotines, zombie nurses and straightjackets,  giant frankenstein and even more gory antics all among a host of costume changes and stage props. Cooper chaperoned a backing band that holds a multitude of talent on their own, with long time guitarist Ryan Roxie along with Tommy Henricksen and the incredible Orianthi who kept the stage dynamics in play as they interacted through the background until the shredding solos that brought them front forward. Bassist Chuck Garric and local favorite Glen Sobel on drums rounded out the touring band and each were highlighted during the show between the roving killers and monsters that caroused the stage. HIghlights of the night were of course “Welcome to my NIghtmare” complete with writing snake and smoke, “Billion Dollar Babies”, “Go To Hell” and the crowd dug into newer “Behind the Mask” and “Poison” later in the set. Winding down toward the climax of the show Cooper and cast pulled off a medley of ‘dead rocker’ classics leading off from “I Love the Dead” and featuring the Doors’ “Break on Through”, Beatles’ “Revolution”, the Who’s “My Generation” and Orianthi performed a blistering solo front and center stage for Jimi Hendrix’s “Foxy Lady”. The set had no formal encore, but amid confetti and bubbles and sparkers the night finally reached its height with “I’m Eighteen” and a final “School’s Out”.

The tour is over for the now but you can follow news and updates on the official website at http://www.alicecooper.com/
