The Pearl Theater at the Palms Hotel and Casino welcomed Chrissie Hynde to Las Vegas, on tour in support of her first official solo album, Stockholm, released in June. Hynde kept the stage minimalistic as she stood front and center with a guitar to deliver a timeless performance that included Stockholm almost in it’s entirety, along with choice Pretenders ageless classic hits. Opening with Pretenders Don’t Lose Faith in Me, the show wove between soulful ballads, thought provoking new verses and hard rocking favorites like Precious and Tattooed Love Boys. Hynde talked between songs of her support for PETA, her new album, and dropped a few f-bombs out there for punk’s sake, but for the most part stuck to the one-woman show, with a backing band she drew out on occasion into conversation and set an easy tone that made for a more intimate setting for the fans in tow. Hynde has held down a consistent career for decades with an ever changing lineup of Pretenders band members, this tour ‘solo’ is much the same, but shows credit where due and focuses on the icon who has always been the force of the Pretenders brand.
