Bob Dylan Fall Tour 2016

220px-bob_dylan_-_azkena_rock_festival_2010_2Bob Dylan and his band will tour the United States this fall. The tour will start in Indio, CA October 7 and includes cities such as Las Vegas, NV, Phoenix, AZ before finishing in Fort Lauderdale on November 23.

Bob Dylan released a new album this year titled ‘Fallen Angels’. The album is the 37th studio recording album from the world renowned musician. A wide range of songwriters including Johnny Mercer, Carolyn Leigh, Sammy Cahn and Harold Arlen wrote the songs on the album. The album received rave reviews with Rolling Stone Magazine saying in their review that “Dylan’s phrasing remains spectacular, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes hilarious, and the laying is sublime.”

One tour date that stands out is the show at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The Cosmopolitan has hosted some of the biggest names in music since it opened in 2010. In 2013 Gogobot voted The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas as the best hotel in the world.

Bob Dylan has had a close connection to casinos throughout his illustrious career. Not only has he performed at many Las Vegas haunts over the years, he’s also began featuring some of his art in exhibitions littering the many gaming establishments on the Las Vegas Strip. Because of the changing landscape of the Las Vegas casino industry, these once one-dimensional entertainment venues now house fine Art exhibitions showcasing the works of Picasso and Andy Warhol.

In short, casinos have had to adapt and become more than places to gamble since the rise of the Internet. Today casinos are multi-entertainment platforms hosting concerts, musicals and conventions to draw customers in. Having popular artists such as Bob Dylan creates an exciting buzz that online gaming can’t compete with and helps sell-out their purpose built concert arenas. With news website Calvin Ayre documenting huge quarterly profits from world famous digital gaming companies like Gala Bingo, land-based operators need to keep moving forward with their diverse entertainment offerings to counter their digital counterparts increasing slice of the industry. And showcasing artists like Dylan, whether through his art or music, helps them pull in a varied crowd – some of which are new customers altogether.

Away from his upcoming tour, Dylan has been busy working on other projects. The Santa Monica Observer reported that Dylan designed a sculpted iron archway in the soon to be opened MGM National Harbor, Prince George’s Country, Maryland. The archway is 26-foot by 15-foot and will decorate the west entrance to the casino. Bob Dylan has sculpted for many years, but all his previous pieces were exclusively for family and friends. In 2013 he released his first work to the public in London. Dylan creates the sculptures by gathering different types of objects found in such places as junkyards and vintage shops and welding them together. The MGM National Harbor Casino is expected to open at the end of this year, although no definite date has been revealed yet.

320px-bob_dylan_1978Bob Dylan is considered one of America’s greatest musicians and poets. Dylan’s works have spanned five decades and have documented the changing American landscape. Ultimate Classic Rock made a list of ten top protest songs which commented on issues ranging from social unrest to the cold war. His popularity has endured internationally and it is a tribute to extraordinary talent and scope of his work that he is still playing at concert halls such as The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
