Flipside Entertainment and Wet Ape Productions present… Deadmau5 Unhooked
Within almost 6 months, Kelowna saw Deadmau5 twice. Both times being a unique show, completely differing from one another. Joel Zimmerman, or commonly known as the infamous Deadmau5, is well loved by the Okanagan Valley, and it was made apparent when tickets went on sale for his second show, at the valleys largest venue, Prospera Place.
Thousands of people of all ages packed the arena on a Wednesday night, to see some of the biggest names in Dance music perform live for them. Alongside Deadmau5, was recently signed Mau5trap Records, Sonny Moore, or Skrillex. Skrillex has recently been on a rapid train to fame, with hits such as “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, and “Rock N’ Roll”. As he played his show, the arena continued to fill up, all excited and more than impressed on his performance!
After Skrillex, was one of the UK’s top musicians Calvin Harris. Signed with Sony Music, Calvin released chart topping hits such as “You Used To Hold Me”, and “Flashback”. Calvin had every female in the building screaming for his looks, and every male in the building, screaming for his music. Calvin had formed a new strong relationship with Kelowna, which was something that was evident throughout his performance as he continued to play his well loved music, and dance up a storm.
After the two amazing opening acts, the headliner Deadmau5 arrived. Intensity was at all time high for the night. Additional lighting and visual effects were turned on and Deadmau5 performed some big tunes! He wore his black “mau5head”, which was a slight let down as we all hoped it would be his LED one, but nothing to lose sleep over! As well he did not have his infamous “Cube” simply because it was not part of the tour, and instead had another lighting extraordinaire! Overall he performed as well as expected, notably at the end, when performing the crowd favourite, “Raise Your Weapon”. That song had the majority of the crowd, singing along!
This event was brought to you by Wet Ape Productions and Flipside Entertainment, both based out of Kelowna, BC, Canada, bring Kelowna another show, DJ Tiesto with Guests, on April 29, 2011.
