Wet Ape Productions presents Center of Gravity 2010
Center of Gravity is what simply defines the Okanagan Summers. While they offer some of the greatest beachfront sports, including volleyball, 3 on 3 basketball, and mountain biking, they also offer some of the top names in music throughout the weekend.
Center of Gravity is host of the SunFM main stage, which offers a different genre of music each night, by offering some of the biggest names in each genre. Starting off Friday night with the pop-rock genre, WetApe had set The Latency, Dragonette, and Faber Drive to play. The Latency opened the night, and definitely had the crowd wound up. Dragonette followed, playing an astounding performance, including her top radio hit, “Pick Up The Phone”. Ending the night, was the Kelowna-loved band, Faber Drive. Faber Drive’s music is set to please all ages, especially when it comes to their hit “Second Chance.” All in all, the opening night was a success to say the least.
The second night revolved around the idea of hip-hop. Introducing the finest ‘old-school’ rappers, and the latest and greatest ‘new-age’ hip-hop artist, Kelowna had high expectations of the night. Karl Wolf started off the night, unfortunately about 20 minutes late, which had seemed like forever. However, once he had arrived, his lack of tardiness, was easily forgotten, as he left the crowd in awe. Following his breath-taking performance, was the most renowned ‘old-school’ hip-hop group, Naughty by Nature. Playing their hits from the 90′s, the young and old were please with their performance. Ending the night, Naughty by Nature hosted a stage party, which really had the crowd ecstatic!
To end of the festival, was the DJ night. With the two openers, Global DJ’s and Team Canada DJ’s, followed by disk jockey legend, Steve Aoki, the night was set to amazing. Global DJ’s and Team Canada DJ’s kicked it off, however did not get the crowds that they deserved. They each played an equally exciting set, however it wasn’t until Steve Aoki, that the crowd decided to come out and watch. Steve Aoki managed to get the greatest crowd of the night, which he included multiple times throughout his set. From sending blow-up boats surfing above the crowd, to pouring an entire champagne bottle out on the crowd, Steve had a great night, as did everyone witnessing the magic. Overall, this was a great ending to Center of Gravity, resulting in a year seem like forever before Center of Gravity 2011!
