Frontier Touring presents Jimmy Eat World
Jimmy Eat World, entered the Tivoli with their hit song ‘Bleed American’, which had the crowd into it from the first song. They hosted a sold out show of approximately 1500 at Brisbane’s infamous concert hall, The Tivoli, which has played host to many bands over the years including The Fray, HIM, MGMT, and Angels and Airwaves.
About 10 years ago, I would find myself listening to Jimmy Eat World’s CD, Bleed American, on repeat day after day. This resulted in myself knowing the CD like the back of my hand, word for word. However, since then, I haven’t heard much from them, but I was excited to hear they were in town, so I could review them. At the show, they played many of the songs I remember from years ago, which were the songs that the entire crowd were into, also singing word for word.
They had a greater than expected light production from my perspective, however not much else for visuals. The entire band seemed quite into, with the singer, putting on a visual show himself, as he danced all over the stage. They had about a two minute break halfway through the show, and the bassist came out afterwards with a beer in hand, showing the atmosphere of the night!
At the end of the night, the most crowd loved song was played second to last, The Middle, which even I caught myself belting out. Overall, it was a great show to be at, within a great atmosphere. They sounded very similar to their recorded voices, and even played a few of their newer songs to excite the crowd! All in all, it was a succesful night for the band, the fans, and the venue!
