Going to a The Script concert is like going to a romantic movie. You sit or stand there and watch and listen, wanting to hug and kiss your significant other, simply because the ambiance and tone of the night, that The Script gives to the approximately 4000 people that filled one of the halls in the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Script came on after an amazing performance by UK legend, Tinie Tempah (see review HERE). After a 25 minute intermission after Tinie, they ran on stage, simply to each have a brief solo before the rocked into ‘You Wont Feel A Thing’. After staring in awe for 2 songs, by the third song, the lead singer Danny O’Donoghue ran into the front row passing the mic off to all the screaming girls to sing ‘We Cry’ with him. The entire show, Danny really showed how much he loved his job, and how he was really, living the dream! As he belted out all the lyrics, in his charming voice, he danced all over stage, and beat on the keyboard.
However, the lead guitarist was not meant to be forgotten either. When he soloed at the beginning is when he took my breath. Who says pop-rock guitarists can’t solo? With his energetic dancing and back-up vocals, he was astonishing, not to mention, he rocked the entire night in a kilt!
With a extraordinary light show, featured with a massive wide screen TV that extended the whole width of their stage, the concert was nothing short of visually amazing. The TV featured live video of each musician playing, live video of the crowd rocking out, and some video clips that complimented each song they played!
But at the end of the night, you think, that it wasn’t just with their voices that they took everyones heart, but the way they interacted with the crowd. He came out to the crowd at least one other time, at “Seek”. Not to mention he had the entire crowd singing the entire first verse of “Man Who Can’t Be Moved”. After that song, he sat on a pedestal on stage, and just gazed into the audience and the irish flags throughout the mosh pit. He was in awe, almost as much as we, the fans were.
Overall, at the end of the night, The Script had managed to emotionally touch each member of the crowd someway or another, and each came out to their encore with a beer in hand, and cheers’d the crowd! For their encore they rocked ‘For The 1rst Time’, and their number 1 hit, ‘Breakeven’. All I can say to end this, is well done Danny and crew, that was simply a performance I will NEVER forget!
