Rise Against with special guest Four Years Strong and Bad Religion

As Rise Against ends their USA tour, they chose to play before their hometown and beloved crowd on Friday the 13^th. With an early start time, the show started at 7pm with Four Years Strong providing a strong 30 minute set for the Sold Out crowd. Up next was punk rock legend, Bad Religion, who by the end of the set had the crowd singing along ready to explode as they passed the torch to next generation punk rocker, Rise Against.

You could feel the energy level increase as the lights dimmed and the opening chords of “Chamber the Cartridge” started. At this point, the crowd could not be held back any longer and at times almost moving as one - with mosh pits opening on both sides of the venue, crowd suffering that seemed never ending as well as people being carried out from exhaustion.

Rise Against did not disappoint and gave back as much was being given to them, with close to a 2 hour set. They followed up with “Satellite” from their newly released album, Endgame along with Make it Stop (September’s Children).

With a 19 song setlist that include hits “Re-Education (Through Labor),” “Prayer of the Refugee,” “Audience of One,” “Ready to Fall,” one of the highlights of the night was when Tim Mcllrath came out alone with an acoustic guitar and played “Swing Life Away” which became a huge sing-along with the crowd. This was followed with Zach Blair, who joined McIlrath for a dedication to all the soldiers overseas playing, “Hero of War.” Joe Principe and Brandon Barnes came out to finish this very moving song.

The night ended with an Encore of Entertainment: “Savior,” and the house raising, “Give It All,” where McIIrath was being held up over the crowd in the middle of the venue by security to sing and as he ended the song, a circle of at least 500 people reached out as one looking like a human crop circle.

By far one of the best concerts I have seen this year and for sure, the most energy by both band and audience.
