Jones Beach Theater presents… Blink 182 with co headliners My Chemical Romance and Manchester Orchestra.

Clouds were overhead and the wind was starting to pick up at Jones Beach Theater on Saturday night, but that did not stop hundreds of fans filling the theater to see the three awesome bands about to take the stage.

Manchester Orchestra opened, joking that they’d be done soon so the crowd could see Blink 182, but the audience seemed to enjoy them greatly. They opened with “My Friend Marcus” their sound drawing the crowd to their seats to watch. I had not seen them perform before, but they were definitely enjoyable. They closed their set with “Pride” which seemed like a good way to end.

My Chemical Romance was up next, and the crowd was extremely pumped to see them. Lead singer Gerard Way took the stage with his usual energy and power. They opened with “Na Na Na” off their most recent album, bringing the crowd to its feet singing along. Gerard is a great performer, and interacts with the crowd. At several points he got down on his knees at the front of the stage to make more of a connection with the lucky fans in the first few rows. They played some favorites old and new such as “Teenagers” “Helena” and “I’m Not Okay” which really pleased the crowd. Their closing song was “Famous Last Words”. Despite a bit of rain during their set it was a great experience.

Finally the headliners Blink 182 were up. Since forming in 1992 this band has gained the adoration of many all over the world. They are known for their wild antics and talking/singing about vulgar things. That isn’t all this band is however, they also sing about love, life and growing up. They opened with the hit off their last album, “Feeling This” to get the crowd excited. Their second song “Up All Night” is their new single, and many of the dedicated fans in the crowd appeared to already know all the lyrics. “Heart’s All Gone” is another new song they played that fans seemed to know. They moved on to some of their biggest hits, “The Rock Show” “What’s My Age Again” “I Miss You” “First Date” and “All The Small Things”. Their encore consisted of “Carousel” a very old song off their third album, Cheshire Cat, “Dammit” which is from their fourth cd, Dude Ranch and “Family Reunion” a song from their live album, Mark Tom and Travis Show. There was supposed to be a surprise in the middle where drummer Travis Barker and his drum set would be suspended above the crowd, but unfortunately this was cancelled due to the rain. Blink 182 is an awesome band to see live. They are fun, entertaining and exciting from start to finish. They have been around a long time but seem to only be getting better with age.
