The Rave presents Special guest Art of Dying
Art of Dying is a band out of Canada and had their first major album, “Vices and Virtues” released this year.
Art of Dying is:
Jonny Hetherington – Vocals
Greg Bradley – Guitar
Jeff Brown – Drums
Cale Gontier – Bass
Tavis Stanley – Guitar
I have seen them twice before at the Rave and both times in the big ballroom, so for this show, they played in the bar area in front of a small crowd. Tonight they were the headliners and although there may have not been a lot of people present, that did not stop them from playing as if they were in front of thousands, as they will be doing soon when they play for the UPROAR tour.
Tonight was also a video shoot for the next single, Get Thru This, which they are shooting at different venues on this tour.
They opened the set with Straight Across My Mind, followed by, You Don’t Know Me and the first run through of Get Thru This. I noticed right away how well they sounded live when compared to listening to the CD, which is always a good sign of how tight the band is. I won’t go in to details of each band member, but I will tell you, these guys are all amazing with their skills at playing as a group and Hetherington is a great front man with his interaction with the crowd or jamming on stage to the music, as well as a powerhouse with his vocal skills. Stanley played an extended intro solo before going into the song, Raining.
This was followed up by Stanley, Hetherington, and Gontier sitting on stools and harmonizing to Sorry; sounded great this way and was a treat for the fans that were there. Bradley and Brown came out to play along with, Best I Can. Brown played a short drum solo before the guys played an Alice In Chains cover of Man in the Box. They finished the night with a great rendition of Whole World’s Crazy, another take for the video of Get Thru This and ended the night with their hit single, Die Trying.
While some bands would have pulled a primadonna act, these guys did not when faced with a smaller crowd and says a lot about how they handle themselves. Afterward, they came out and talked with the crowd and signed autographs.
Nights like these are rare for fans and the ones who came out got enjoy a solid band play for an hour plus of all their songs and one cover and they also were able to interact with the band afterwards. I am pretty sure this will not be the case for long with Art of Dying, so if you see they are playing in your area, go check them out and enjoy a night of great music and great guys.

Was going to buy tickets for this show, but since I saw them open for Disturbed in May I decided to save my money for another show. Good I didn’t because I tore the ACL in my knee 10 days before the show. I read the review, so can someone confirm that this is the complete setlist?
