Peter Frampton on the Frampton Comes Alive 35 tour at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 28, 2011.
What seems like last year for many, 1976 was the year Peter Frampton released his best-selling album. Frampton Comes Alive of his three hit singles, Show Me The Way, Baby I Love Your Way, and Do You Feel Like We Do so it was no doubt that those, along with the many others were going to be played that night.
Filling up the ancient styled Pantages Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Frampton brought along not much of a visual production, consisting of minimum lights, and a large screen as the back drop continuously showing pictures and clips from the past 35 years. The screen also featured clips of cartoons; The Simpson, and Family Guy, when he had a character feature on the shows. However, this slight lack of visual production was easily made up by 2, hour and a half sets of non-stop rock ‘n’ roll to have a total of 3 hours of Frampton.
Playing with both a band, that consisted of 5 members, and by himself throughout the show. He played a variety of guitars, with an abundance of effects on each, but most notably played his signature custom black Gibson Les Paul.
Playing his entire set with songs mostly off the Comes Alive album, he ended off with Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun, Frampton added his own touch to it, as we added his voice box in throughout to get his signature Wah Wah sounds.
Frampton was encored back onto the stage, entering with a drastic guitar solo (as he did within nearly every song), and made his way into George Harrison’s While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
The show had the crowd on their feet with standing ovations an uncountable amount of times throughout the night. 35 years later, Frampton still has it, and hopefully will for the upcoming years as well!

Frampton did a beauiful job of pleasing most of the masses. He played his hits from the Frampton Live days along with some covers like Soundgardens “Black Hole Sun”.
But a lot of us were there to hear what made him in the first place “Humble Pie”. He did manage “Shine on” and “Four day creep”.
When he did get to “Four day creep”, he scornfully yelled to the crowd Humble Pie in what sounded as relief.
You have to remember how you got to where you are. But he is a talented musician and gave from his heart.
