The Latin Triple Threat of Prince Royce, Pitbull, and Enrique Iglesias on October 1, 2011 at the All State Arena.
The newcomer to tonight’s tour was Prince Royce. Combing a Bachata and R&B style to his music, it has brought him much success in his young career. He has been nominated and won awards from Billboard Latin Music Awards, Premio Lo Nuestro Awards and Latin Grammy Awards.Supported by a full band, Prince Royce came out to a roof-raising roar from the crowd. Showing a maturity beyond his years, he had the crowd in the palm of his hands as he played his hits, Stand by Me, Corazon Sin Cara which had the females in the crowd swooning. He preformed his new song, Addicted to be released off his new all-English album; at one point singing to one of the women in the front row, making her the envy of all the rest. He got right back into grove with songs, El Amor Que Perdimos, Mi Ultima Carta, and Ven Conmigo that he did with Daddy Yankee off his album. He walked off during his last song, picked up a rose and handed it to someone in the crowd, as he left them all screaming for more.
Up next was Cuban rapper, Armando Perez, A.K.A Pitbull, who brought the South Beach Club vibe to Chicago. Ever since his breakout album, “M.I.A.M.I” hit the streets, he has been growing into becoming one of the world’s biggest Latin Rappers. I have been a fan of Pitbull from the start and have seen him before live, although tonight’s show was a little more tame and PG-rated than the last time I saw him, he still brought the high energy.
With a full backing band, Pitbull came out blazing with cover songs Hello, Party Rock Anthem, and I’m in Miami Trick. As he had the crowd jumping and waving their hands from side to side, he launched into Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor), his collaboration with T-Pain off his latest album, “Planet Pit.”
Pitbull has a ton of swagger and a smirk on his face that had all the ladies screaming from the top of their lungs. For the song Rain Over Me, he had a video of Marc Anthony singing his parts while he rapped. He also brought out Nayer to sing solo for her song, Suave (Kiss Me); she seemed to be more eye candy for the guys, which none of us complained. He continued with Calle Ocho, On the Floor, that had Jennifer Lopez backing vocals and the same with DJ Got Us Falling in Love with Usher’s backing vocals.
Throughout the show Pitbull poured more energy out then any concert I have been to all year. He gives his fans his all and as he likes to tell his fans, he turned his life from a negative into a positive and thanked Chicago for always supporting him.
As he asked the crowd if they wanted to go his after-party at his hotel, Pitbull launched into the song, Hotel Room Service. He ended the night with his biggest hit to date, Give me Everything that had the Ne-Yo backing vocals and brought out Nayer to sing her parts to finish his set with a bang.
