The NHL presents… Three Days Grace with Bachman & Turner at The Forks in Winnipeg, MB on October 6, 2011.
First day of the 2011-2012 NHL season was underway, and there is no better place to host an opening party, then home of the reborn Winnipeg Jets. Held at down by the river at The Forks was more of a sporting event than a concert, however we still decided to cover it.
Downtown Winnipeg was filled with families, and hockey fans from one end to another. This free event consisted of concerts, broadcasts of the opening game, beer gardens, road hockey, and signings from players of the Jets.
Being filmed on national television, Three Days Grace were to play a smaller set prior to the puck drop, which was taking place in Toronto, who were hosting the Montreal Canadiens. Three Days Grace teased the fans about 20 minutes before their set time with a sound check before officially playing. It wasn’t long after before they went into their official set, which unfortunately only consisted of approximately 5-6 songs, but still left the crowd amped for the game as they made sure to play their hits such as Pain, I Hate Everything About You, and Riot.
Right after the first period, were hometown heroes, Bachman Turner who took the stage. Similar to Three Days Grace’s set, they only played approximately 6 songs, but made sure to include such hits as You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet and Taking Care Of Business.
Overall, this free event, brought on by the NHL themselves proved how grateful the city is to have the Jets back, and how deserving they are of them. I’ll end of by chanting… GO JETS GO!
