TobyMac with Jamie Grace at the Calvary Temple in Winnipeg, MB on October 13, 2011.

A TobyMac concert has got to be one of the most fun Christian family events a family could go to, and it seems many families were well aware going into the event. A concert revolving around Christian rap & alternative artist, TobyMac, brought singles, couples, and families consisting of young kids and grandparents. Everyone was in for a treat.

Starting off the night was another Christina singer-songwriter hailing all the way from Atlanta, Georgia; Jamie Grace. Jamie Grace, only a 19 year old college student, was founded and signed by TobyMac’s founded record label, Gotee Records. Now touring with TobyMac, Jamie combines hip-hop, folk, pop, and a bit of alternative all into one uplifting genre. Going right into her music, while jamming on her guitar, TobyMac joined her on stage for a song. Jamie also made sure to use her talents to give an uplifting speech near the end of her set.

After a brief intermission, TobyMac accompanied by his band DiverseCity, came to the stage, as teens rushed up from their seats to surround the stage. With a light show you’d thought you could only see in an arena show, all 9 members of the stage, added to the visual affects as they danced around, and proved how much fun they were having up there.

Filling up the stage with a DJ, a drummer, a voice box singer, a keyboardist, a guitar/trumpet player, a bassist, a beat boxer, a back-up vocalist, and of course, the man himself; TobyMac, the sound quality was at it’s finest. TobyMac played music from throughout his career including Lost My Soul, and Made To Love, TobyMac also played tribute to the formal viral video on youtube, Pants On The Ground, which of course created a laugh throughout.

He spent a large chunk of his set in the middle of the crowd, creating an intimate setting of a concert within that temple. Near the end of the set, TobyMac as well gave an uplifting and enlightening speech, encouraging all the children and families and sending them all good faith. TobyMac was cheered back on for an encore, in which he played one of his main hits, City On Our Knees.

Families and fans of both Jamie Grace and TobyMac left the Calvary Temple more than satisfied that evening on a natural high.
