Paul Mercs Concerts presents… Jeff Beck at Pantages Playhouse Theatre, in Winnipeg, MB on October 22, 2011
Starting off the evening was 20 year old Tyler Bryant. Bryant, who calls Texas home, warmed up the crowd as they filed in. Filling the theatre with his vocals and his guitar, setting the stage for Jeff Beck.
It’s been nearly 50 years, and rock-god guitar playing Jeff Beck still has the touch. Jeff Beck filled up and sold out the Pantages Playhouse Theatre in Winnipeg last Saturday night. Jeff left little time in between songs of his near hour and a half set, as he continuously awed the crowd.
Focusing solely on his musical efforts, Jeff must have said no more than 3 words throughout the night, but it was apparent he’d let his guitar do all the talking. Earning his first full house standing ovation after cover ‘A Day In The Life’ by The Beatles. Other covers for the night included his ending encore ‘Bad Romance’, which yes, is a Lady Gaga cover. Putting a rocking-spin on it, he did Gaga well.
Jeff’s band consisted of himself, who solely played guitar throughout the night, a keyboardist, whom used a voice box throughout, and a guitarist and bassist, who sang for the occasional song.
Overall, Jeff pumped the hard rock centre of Canada, leaving Winnipeg hoping to see him, and his band, once more before retirement!

Jeff Beck is a nonpareil and inimitable guitar virtuoso and fredboard master. He specializes in hard rock, jazz fusion, funk, electronica, blues and now he even easily plays rockabilly, opera and classical. He can create a galaxy of tones, sounds and notes with just his bare fingers and a few effects. He gets better with age. He’s respected and revered by Page, Gilmour, Clapton, Lukather, May, Satriani, Perry, Wood,
Sir George Martin and the late Les Paul.
