Scream Tour with special guest OMG Girlz, Hamilton Park, Jacob Latimore, Diggy, and Mindless Behavior

Once again the Rave in Milwaukee, WI was having three shows on the same day. Scream Tour was in the main ballroom and as the name suggests, it was filled with screaming tweens. While this was not per say, the official scream tour from before with bigger name acts, this was billed as the next generation tour.

The show started early and on time with two supporting acts playing about 3 to 4 songs before the OMG Girlz came on - the only female performers on the male-dominated tour, they came out and showed the young girls who runs the world. Coming from the ATL, they came out with their hair whipping and fierce looks. Singing their songs Gucci This Gucci That, Pretty Girl bag, and Haterz, they put on a good performance to get the crowd pumped to kick off the night.

Up next was Hamilton Park, also from the ATL and the elder group on this tour. They came up and swept up all the girls in the crowd off their feet. They remind me of several R&B groups from back in the day like 112 but mostly like Jodeci when they first hit the scene, with a more mature set that included songs, Piece of My Love, Nothing to a Boss and their current hit, Thing Called Us. They never overstepped the boundaries of being too graphic with performing to a young crowd but gave enough to please the mothers and older girls with their bump & grind moves. Every member several times reached out into the crowd to make a fans dream come true as they sang along with them. These guys know how to do their thing and for sure will be on the scene for years to come.

Next up was Milwaukee’s Own, Jacob Latimore who stole the show. Latimore has the complete package with his dance moves, singing, and natural ability to reach into a crowd and take them on a ride. He came out with two backup dancers, but he could have been alone because his moves where comparable to Chris Brown and the talent of Usher. Moving from one side of the stage to the other, he had the hometown crowd in his hands; singing songs like This or That, the infectious grove of Nothing on Me, and the song that had the girls scream when he asked if he could Like ‘em All. At only 15, he has all the star power to reach the top as the stars he emulates now.

Next up was Diggy Simmons, who we have seen growing up on MTV’s Run’s House. Being the only rapper on the Scream Tour, he had more to prove. DJ Spinking was getting the crowd hyped with his mad skills on the turntables and before Diggy showed up on stage, the screams started. He has a style that reminds me of Drake with the rapping to go along with his sing-song style. While he still needs time to tighten up his rapping skills and push himself into the next tier of elite rappers, he still puts on a show that is pleasing to the crowd.

Songs included Great Expectations and his hit Copy, Paste.

Throughout the performance Diggy played to the crowd and handed a fan a rose before calling on of the young girls up on stage to rap/sing for her as she sat watching and shaking like a leaf from the one-on-one attention she was getting as he came to her and handed her a dozen roses and a kiss to seal her dream night, I am sure.

Jacob Latimore joined Diggy on stage to give a powerhouse performance that left the crowded wanting more.

Last act of the night was Mindless Behavior who had the loudest screams saved for them. As each member came on stage, the screams became overwhelming as all the members appeared. These young guys remind me so much of iMX and B2K and a young New Edition. As they started to perform, they did not look like they are new to this and performed as a group who has been doing this beyond their young age, putting on a very tight 45 minute set with well choreographed moves and a great amount of singing talent - singing their hits, My Girl, # 1 Girl, and Missing You. They got the biggest response when Diggy came out to perform the hot single, Mrs. Right.

I think the crowd would have loved a longer set, but not this time around. This is a tour for the next generation of stars-to-be and also family-friendly for parents looking for a show to take their kids to as well as tweens looking to be with their friends at their first concert.
