Festival Republic Presents… Orlando Calling with guests Kid Rock, Blake Shelton, The Doobie Brothers, & more.
Day 2 of the Orlando Calling music festival was once again an early one! Gates at 11am, first band rocking out early! Local band Sound Express took the early morning crowd and woke them up! The Apache Relay and other would do the same as people would file in and get ready for the big day.
The line up this day would be more country oriented but I did see some returning faces from the day before. The stages saw the likes of bands like Have Gun Will Travel, Elizabeth Cook, The Flatlanders, Brandi Carlile, Los Lonely Boys, Buddy Guy, Chris Isaak and many more!
Outside of the Main Stage, Los Lonely Boys probably had the biggest crowd of the weekend. Not only was a photo pit full of photogs, but tent was packed with people. Even the sides and back had people out of it, at least 5 or 6 people deep. They played a super amazing set. Even a Michael Jackson cover! It seemed like they should have been a Main Stage act.
But once again, the Main Stage was where it was at. The day stated off with the Hindu Cowboys. Good country act. After was a 5 piece band called Del McCoury. It seemed like they didn’t use any amps at all and just relied on some mics. Quite weird but maybe its normal for them. The Doobie Brothers was a band I was familiar with as a child, since my mother listened to them, so it was a pleasure to see them. They put on a really great set and the crowd was loving it. Recent country star Blake Shelton was next and as the girls screamed for him, he played and made it known why he is a star. One of the big acts of the weekend, Kid Rock was next. Big stage screen, pyro and so much more went into his show. Even a tribute to former member Joe C was given. It still amazing to see his transformation over the years from rap/metal to full on country star.
Sadly once again, the main headline, Bob Seger was NOT allowing photographers. They were making exceptions on Sunday, but I didn’t know of this till late.
Overall the weekend was a blast. Met a lot of awesome people, had great conversations and just enjoyed every aspect of it. As you look over the photos from the weekend, please say a prayer for my feet as they still ache!
