Live Nation presents… LMFAO with guests Far East Movement, Natalia Kills, Frankmusik, Kay, Colette Carr, and others on the Cherry Tree Records Pop Alternative Tour on December 14, 2011 in Winnipeg, MB.
A capacity crowd wearing neon colours and animal print leggins filed into the MTS Centre in downtown Winnipeg on December 14. These fans, whom were mainly in there late teens, or early 20′s were ready to ‘Party Rock’ all night.
Starting off at 7:00 PM was a 45 minute combined set of all the openers on the Cherry Tree record label. This included Natalia Kills, Frankmusik, Kay, and Colette Car. Playing such hits as Kay’s ‘My Name Is Kay’, and Natalia Kills ‘Mirrors’, this pumped up the crowd as the night was just starting.
Following the openers were Far East Movement. This American group smashed out the club hit ‘Like A G6′ off of their 2010 album ‘Free Wired’. Promoting their early 2012 release album, Dirty Bass, they played future chart toppers of it, and finished off with their very successful ballad-sounding tune ‘Rocketeer’.
30 minutes later, headliners LMFAO took the stage the an arena of 10 000 young adults all screaming as their dancers did an intro and stepped aside for Red Foo, and Sky Blu entered the stage. With this being Sky Blu’s first return from a few shows off due to a sore back he was very welcome in Winnipeg.
Starting off the night the uncle/nephew duo went into ‘Sorry For Party Rocking’. Wearing neon and animal print matching the crowd, they danced about the stage along with their set of talented dancers, their DJ, and their guitarist. LMFAO played chart topping hits such as ‘Party Rock’, ‘Yes’, and ‘Get Crazy’ to turn the hockey arena into an ultimate night club. With an impressive production, fans participated by holding thousands of glow sticks in the air, and helped an inflatable giant zebra crowd surf throughout their 80-minute set.
Coming back on for their current hit ‘Sexy And I Know It’ as their encore. The duo rocked speedo’s and boxers to thrust to crowd. Unfortunately at this point Sky Blue was seen to be limping on stage, as it was apparent his back was acting up again, and they ended up postponing the rest of the tour.
Fortunately enough for Winnipeg fans the entire show was complete, and I imagine each and every fan was more than satisfied with the entire show. Many leaving laughing, and many leaving in awe, LMFAO will be welcome back to this part of the country any future day!
