Full Metal Jackie and First Avenue presents… In Flames with guests Trivium, Veil of Maya, and Kyng.
Opening the show was Kyng and Veil of Maya. From talking to the crowd while there, everything was very positive on the reviews of them. I have checked out the sites and they seem to be in the same vain as In Flames. Check them out.
Next up was Trivium. Coming from Florida and embracing the metal scene down there it did not take tem long to get into touring, with opening slots for Metallica and Machine Head. They also recorded their first album in 2004 and continuing to record 4 more albums since then. In support of their latest release In Waves. Having stating In Flames was an early influence on the band I am sure they were excited for this tour. It also showed on stage. These guys rocked it big time and I have to say, I love the influences of Maiden with Matt and Corey on the lead guitars. The band was very tight tonight. With Nick Augusto on drums and Paulio Gregoletto hitting on his BC Rich, it was very cool! Very melodic metal and heavy as all get out. They have accomplished a lot in a small amount of time and are on tour with In Flames through he rest of the month.
In Flames come on and WOW here comes the crowd. People flying everywhere and mosh pit galore. We had to watch the front to make sure we all worked together to not get hurt or anything broken. As the crowd surfing did not stop we were entertained to Sounds Of a Playground Fading, Deliver Us, All for Me and Trigger before even getting a break. Anders Friden awesome angry vocals sounded great tonight and he seemed to be in high spirits. Having fun with the crowd and even giving some guys some crap for not being in the mosh pit. Bjorn and Niclas ripped it up all night long, with Niclas on constant head spins to add in. Up next was Alisa - Swim - The Hive and the Quiet Place. In Flames have been around for over 20 years and must be given some credit them to be the pioneers of melodic death metal. Closing out the set was Where the Dead Ships Dwell - Fear Is the Weakness - Come Clarity - Ropes and Delight and Angers. What a set from these guys. Spanning the career and making a night of sweet metal. OH WAIT; there’s more. For the encore the rocked through Cloud Connected - The Mirror’s Truth and Take This Life.
Thanks to all the band tonight for a great show. If they hit your town before the tour ends do not miss it. What a great night.
