Avalanche Tour presents Art of Dying

Art of Dying is a band out of Canada, who have hit the Rock scene with an impact. Since touring strong, off their latest album, Vices & Virtues, they have played some of the bigger festivals and tours, including last years Avalanche tour. After a 4 month hiatus, they are looking to come back strong; touring with Shinedown, playing at Rocklahoma and Summerfest.

We got a chance to talk with Jeff and Cale about music, being on the road, and fun times on the road. Opening once again the Avalanche show, along with Adelitas Way and headliner Shinedown at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. While most opening acts don’t get the big crowds or the interaction like the other bands, this was not the case for Art of Dying. Having played the Midwest a lot , as well as the Rave, have allowed fans to know what a great show AOD will put.

Opening the set with Straight Across My Mind, Bradley opens with playing harmonics on the guitar before the heavy rift hits you. Singer, Hetherington is 6 foot something with long curly black hair, ripped arms and piercing eyes. His voice along with Stanley create some of the best vocal harmonies in rock; Hetherington voice itself sounds smooth and clear to the ears, like the Jack Daniels he drinks and pours in his hair. With the duel guitar attack of Stanley and Bradley, give this band a well seasoned and polished sound to go along with Gontier nimble bass playing. Gontier is all over the place on stage and plays with a lot of passion, along with Brown on Drums they give AOD a very solid foundation.

With only a 30 minute set to fit in 6 songs, they made sure the crowd got into it. Playing Whole World’s Crazy, Raining, and Get Thru This, they show why they got signed to the band, Disturbed members, David Draiman & Dan Donegan record label right away.

Playing their new single, Sorry, which became a viral hit for fans of theirs; sending them pictures of themselves with the word “sorry” on them. Towards the end of the song, they mixed in a Pearl Jam song, Release before going back to Sorry in a seamless transition. They ended the night with, Die Trying and thanked the fans for coming out and they will be meeting every single one of them at the merch booth or bar area. Sure enough, they were there after the show.
