Theory of a Deadman with special guest Pop Evil, and Stellar Revival

Theory of a Deadman played a sold out show at the House of Blues in Chicago. After seeing them last year opening for other bands, it was nice to see them do a headlining tour.

Opening band, Stellar Revival did a great job warming up the crowd and nice to see a band bring as much energy and sound; great to open the show.

Pop Evil came on next, giving the crowd a good dose of Midwest rock. Always known for putting on a great set, they did not disappoint. Giving the crowd his all, singer, Leigh Kakaty hand-walked on the crowd as he sang, and before they ended the set, he went to each side of the stage to jump on top of speakers that were easy over 10 feet high.

Theory of a Deadman is:
Tyler Connolly – vocals & guitar
Dave Brenner – guitar
Dean Back – bass
Joe Dandeneau – drums

After a 30 minute set change, TOAD came on at 10:15pm to play for 1 ½ hours and played 17 songs to give the fans their money’s worth. Opening the show with Gentleman, off their 4th and latest album, The Truth Is…and following up with, Got it Made and So Happy, got the night going and the fans pumped up. While TOAD has been criticized for being a Nickelback sound alike, this cannot be further from the truth. Connolly, who has dealt with a lot personal issues at home, has seemed to come with terms and tonight was one of the best performances I have seen TOAD.

They continued with All or Nothing, Bitch Came Back, Nothing Could Come Between Us and killer version of Not Meant to Be. Connolly was in a talkative mood tonight and talked about the other night playing hockey for local radio station, 95 WILL Rock and how much they love playing in Chicago. They played 3 Acoustic songs Out of My Head, Easy to Love You, and Better Off, all sounding great and it was a nice little break in between the set to just showcase the vocal skills Connolly possesses.

They got back to rocking with Lowlife - that had the crowd singing along with playing Santa Monica; both Connolly & Brenner showcasing their guitar skills on the cover song of Cocaine. They ended the set with one of my favorite songs, Hate My Life and sounded great as the song kicked in and ended with the crowd singing just as loud as Connolly.

Coming out for an encore of their new release single, Hurricane and ended with a brief intro to Paradise City from GN’R, before launching into the crowd favorite, Bad Girlfriend - that had all the girls in the crowd shaking their ass and singing out loud how they are bad girlfriends.
