The Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Las Vegas presents… Godsmack

Godsmack returned to Las Vegas to a near sold out crowd, with fans coming in from Vegas as well as LA for the only show in the area. Godsmack makes the rounds into Vegas on a regular tour basis, and the fans come out en force every time. As the house lights went down Godsmack hit the stage and powered into “Straight Out of Line ” and “Re-Align” from their Faceless CD to get the show into heavy gear. The crowd was already on their feet way up into the eves as vocalist Sully Erna led the band into classic Godsmack hit “Awake” and then “Enemy”, and on to the hard hitting fan favorite “Bitch” while the Vegas crowd screamed out the chorus and cheered.

The set also featured “Forever Shamed”, “Good Day to Die” and “Oracle’, and fans got into “Keep Away” before the night moved in to solo territory. Erna talked up the crowd in the down time and congratulated drummer Shannon Larkin with a birthday, and also 10 years with Godsmack (already?) and told the audience “get off your ass or get the f*ck out!” before tearing into number one hit “Speak” and “Love/Hate” as the floor moved and pounding fists flew to into the air.

“Voodoo” slowed things down momentarily as Erna growled and grimaced his way through the original classic from the debut cd, and then the set took a heated turn as the drum setup expanded for the dueling drum solo from Erna and Larkin. Facing each other over twin drum sets Erna and Larkin blast out a synched drum concerto that ended with sticks flying high into the air… and a double catch.. this time!

The rest of the band back on stage as Erna yelled into the crowd, “this is not a widescreen TV, I wanna see the whole floor move”… and the band ripped into “Whatever” and then “I Stand Alone” to end show. A solid set packed with Godsmack hits and an amazing performance shows why this band is one of the most successful in the US, with three back to back number one albums and massive touring appeal.

Godsmack has a “Live and Inspired” cd due out May 15th that will feature live tour tracks and the infamous drum battle. You can follow band news and release info at godsmack.com.
