AEG and The Brick presents… Chickenfoot.

Opening up the show tonight is Black Stone Cherry. These guys are from Edmonton, Kentucky and were formed in 2001. They are on tour to support there third album Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Chris Robertson has an excellent voice and is incredibly soulful. On rhythm guitar is Ben Wells, who’s stage persona is excellent to watch. If you can catch him between leg kicks and head banging, Jon Lawhon keeps everything sounding thick and heavy with his bass. The drummer John Young went hard all set as well! Excellent show guys, even dug the Amy Winehouse Rehab sinpet.

Chickenfoot came on 15 minutes after BSC was done and it was definitely a quick set change. Satriani came out to start up the tunes with Lighten Up. We were staged right in front of Joe all night. What an incredible way to watch a master at his craft. Alright Alright was up next, followed by a little break to say hi to the crowd. Big Foot got us rocking and that it did. This tune is my favortie off the new album; Chickenfoot III. It has a classic rockin 80’s sound and Joe’s solo is blistering. Sexy Little Thing, Soap on a Rope, and Last Temptation were all up next. All solid tracks.

My Kind Of Girl got all the ladies singing tonight and then came Down The Drain and this song is heavy! A slow groove with Joe putting his guitar style throughout the song, and live, he finishes it off with an unreal guitar solo. It was so cool to watch him make the noises he had coming out of his guitar, and plus with the double hammering on the neck, it was unreal. Something Going Wrong and Turnin’ Left were played before Sammy talked about the past and how it has gotten them to where they are now. It has come full circles and then of course came Future in the Past.

Overall Sammy’s voice was right on for the night. For the encore, instead of leaving for a few minutes and coming back on stage Mike just said, hey lets just keep playing. Kenny Aronoff is touring while Chad Smith is filling Red Hot Chilli Pepper duites. Kenny is one of the best drummers ever, hands down. This guy is amazing. I would post his resume but it is too big.

Closing out the show was Different Devil, and the crowd participation time with Oh Yeah and the Montrose classic Hard Candy. I have seen Sammy and Mike in Van Halen and they rock just as hard in Chickenfoot. They look comfortable, relaxed and they kicked it really good tonight.
