Live Nation presents… Olly Murs opening the night for One Direction on June 16, 2012 at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, California.

A hip, well dressed man runs onto stage dancing to open for the matinee show of the back to back playings of One Direction’s Up All Night Tour. Starting with the lyrics “My name is Olly, nice to meet you” sings Olly Murs - a 28 year old, who appears to be one of the UK’s best kept secret.

Getting his start on the UK version of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, Olly placed second, which was easily sufficient to sky rocket his musical success. Olly started the evening with one of his earlier hits, Dance With Me Tonight. If you’ve heard this song, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about when I explain that this is one of the most unique songs on the modern pop market. Boasting a 50’s or 60’s feel, Dance With Me Tonight has the horns, the bass-line, the rhythm, and the back up singers that influences this track to make you want to grab your dancing shoes and your partner, and head down to the local ballroom.

Murs’ set consisted of about 5 or 6 songs which included his first single, Please Don’t Let Me Go, and ended with his latest single, Heart Skips a Beat, which featured one of America’s up and coming rapper, Chiddy Bang, whose verse was just played as a background track.

Olly’s ecstatic dance moves should also be noted as oh man, can Olly dance. In between songs - he dances, while he sings - he dances, the Brit doesn’t stop dancing. Olly Murs has talent, and knows how to put on a one of a kind type of show (which is something many pop artists just can’t do), I’m surprised it took audition on The X Factor for him to get noticed.
