Verizon Wireless Center and Medina Entertainment Center presents.. Ted Nugent.
First night of the Double Live Minnesota was in Mankato, MN at the Verizon Wireless Center on June 14, 2012.
Verizon Wireless Center is an excellent arena to see a show as it A smaller arena type venue with a lower bowl and suites across the top. The sound was really solid and being general admission, you could get a great seat anywhere.
Ted always gets a huge crowd of blue collar guys and gals, NRA supporters, veterans, rock ‘n’ roll lovers and all sorts of republican supports. This night would not let down. One lady had a huge Ted For President sign that she was having everyone sign and the MN Vikings new stadium supporter Larry Spooner was in the front row for his 41st Ted Nugent show, way to go!
Being flag day, the stage was draped with a massive American Flag as a back drop. We were also all given a flag when entering the arena. The patriotism was strong this evening. The band both nights is the same as his 2011 I Still Believe tour. Derek St. Homes on guitar and vocals, Mick Brown on drums and Gregg Smith on bass. This is the best band Ted has played with since Damn Yankees. The band is on it game every night. Tight and non stop, there is not a lot of political banter between songs, just strait up rock ‘n’ roll show.
Second Night of the Double Live Minnesota was at Medina Entertainment Center in Medina, MN on June 15, 2012.
Opening the show was Laura Wilde who is playing all summer with Ted on his solo tour Great White Buffalo. Coming from Australia she rocked the show to get everyone started. She offers a great classic rock sound with an excellent band. They are nice enough to meet and greet everyone who come by the merch booth also, do not miss saying hello!
This night was another high spirited evening with Ted Nugent. The Medina Entertainment Center is a great place to see a show. It has a small stage, low ceiling and always make for an intimate setting.
Ted surprised us with an announcement on stage that he just had his 3rd knee surgery and the doctors wanted him to cancel the tour. In return he gave them an expletive answer and said no way was he canceling the tour.
The stage was scaled down tonight to fit the smaller venue tonight, but still had the classic marshal amps covered in guitars, the American flag on one side of the drums with the MN state flag on the other side. Guns on top of his amps, and a bow to right side. Looks like a Nuge show, that’s for sure.
Ted rips it up again for the second night in a row. I’ve got to say his guitar playing is insane. For over 40 years he has been rocking the stage and recently celebrated his 6000 show! It hit me tonight we are witnessing one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most historic guitar players… He let’s it be known with several classic guitar riffs.
Derek St. Holmes was all smiles both nights and hopefully this will be a regular thing with Ted. He makes the band ten times better as his voice just brings out those classics from Free For All and Weekend Warriors.
