McPhillips Street Casino presents…. Uncle Kracker in Winnipeg, MB on June 19th 2012.

Seeing Uncle Kracker marked the first time I had ever stepped foot into the McPhillips Street Casino for a concert of any type. I had been there on a few other occasions to play some cards and lose some money, but shooting and seeing a concert was a first. One of the first things I noticed was how well the stage was set up. For one of the smaller venues in the city their sound system and lighting system rivals any of the bigger venues.

No opener for this one just right down to the main show. Uncle Kracker’s music is a good mixture of country and rock, I guess most people would call it “new country”. He stared off the show with a big thank you to everyone who came out to the show and proceeded to say “We are going to play some new ones, old ones, some that aren’t ours and most that aren’t yours”. Uncle Kracker definatly has a way of working the crowd his jokes kept the crowd laughing between songs whether it be about old ladies with tattoos everywhere or telling stories from his life. If you didn’t know he was from Detroit, you would think he was just a good ol’ boy from the south ready to have some fun.

Uncle Kracker did not disappoint with his performance. He played a couple covers from Kenny Rogers, mixed in some AC/DC with his hit “Follow Me” and then had a 2 song encore. It was such a great evening. Uncle Kracker played for around an hour and it honestly did not seem to be that long as the time just flew on by.

All in all though I really did enjoy this show. If your a fan of either rock or country or as I said before “new country” you would not be disappointed in seeing Uncle Kracker.
