The Vans Warped Tour in Pomona, California on June 22, 2012.

New Found Glory

The “end” of the world in 2012? Why not enjoy the good stuff while it’s out there. It is the season for big tours and music festivals. The Vans Warped Tour is among the top must-sees for an array of local bands, up and coming talents-think Dead Sara (rock), Hyro Da Hero (rap/rock/hip-hop), and Polar Bear Club (punk) who have been building quite the buzz in their own right, and some of the most popular touring acts this summer. Pop, rock, punk, hip-hop, electro, hardcore, reggae, and even folk (a real charmer, Skinny Lister)-all on a common stomping ground. It is a music lover’s paradise. When the dust settles at my end, a new music shopping spree is in order. . . On June 22, Pomona enjoyed its second biggest day with over 16,767 in attendance. Rightfully so. Apart from two main stages (featuring The Used, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Four Year Strong, Anti Flag, Taking Back Sunday, and more), the tour’s billing which vary by date, is spread over six side stages. A great addition to the side stages is the “Acoustic Basement” tent. Among the standouts were Mike Herrera of MXPX, Anthony Raneri of Bayside, Kristopher Roe of The Ataris, and Transit to name some. It is an experience that should not be missed. Hint to the organizers: Please make the tent area bigger for the next year. This tent was a winner. Other standouts of the day as seen and heard from afar, included Miss May I, Of Mice And Men, Mayday Parade, and Pierce The Veil.

With the inevitable conflicting of set times, it was quite difficult to choose which to stay for, and which to leave to catch another. All in all, most bang for the bucks, and a great way to ring in the summer. . . For tour dates and further info:
