Cirque Du Soleil: Iris is THE master show of the performing arts. A mix of theatre, with a dabble of the orchestra, and of course a load of circus is the recipe for success of Cirque’s current residing performance at the Dolby Theatre (previously the Kodak Theatre) in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles.

The $100 million dollar phenomena is fittingly titled as “A Journey Through The World of Cinema” celebrates the film making extravaganza throughout two halves. The first half focusing on what goes on in front of the camera, and the second half gives you a view of an exaggerated film set.

As in every Cirque Du Soleil, there is a backbone of a story, with

Iris’s being about ‘Buster and Scarlett’ and their adventure throughout the evolution of cinema and their exciting venture through all the ‘crazy-ness’ that goes on (and has always gone on) in the filming and theatrical industry.

Directed by Phillippe Decouflé, Iris includes the wow-factor as do most Cirque Du Soleil products. Iris’ acts includes the trapeze from the roof (right above the floor seats), body contortionists, trampoline acts, balancing acts, among many others. Accompanied by a live orchestra, the show lasts a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes including an intermission half way, and did not once leave me checking the time.
