The Mayhem Festival in San Bernadino, California on June 30, 2012

Horns up! On June 30 in San Bernadino, the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival kicked off with it’s biggest show in the festival’s five-year history to date, which had over 42,000 in attendance between the first two opening days. This year’s festival again, lived up to its namesake for metalheads of all ages. There was absolute mayhem inside and outside the pit, most noticeably during Anthrax’s and Slayer’s set. Was a wonder why Anthrax was not playing on the main stage, by the looks and sound of the overwhelming crowd response. Amidst the daytime summer heat, the crowd surfers came to pouring in. . .

Along with members of the Metal Mulisha freestyle motocross team flying overhead, the day’s lineup included the Sumerian stage playing host to Dirtfedd, Betraying the Martyr, and I The Breather. On the Jagermeister stage: local opening band Sangre, followed by Upon A Burning Body, White Chapel, As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria, and Anthrax. On the main stage were The Devil Wears Prada, Motorhead, Slayer, with Slipknot closing the festival. Mayhem continues forth, through the States until early August. A great time will be had by all. Don’t miss out!
