Live Nation presents Roger Waters The Wall Live at Yankee Stadium.

Roger Waters announced last year that he was coming around to the USA for another run of The Wall live and this time it was to include baseball stadiums and the biggest Wall to date. With a theme of Saturday at the ball park he had brought it to Wrigley Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, and a double show on Friday and Saturday July 6th and 7th at Yankee Stadium in New York City. When we first heard, we made sure to book our travel right away.

Heading up to Yankee Stadium is a treat in its self. When you come onto the grounds from subway or otherwise you know you are headed into something special. As the crowd gathered outside and buying souvenirs and trying to get last minute tickets, it was time to enter; and walking into the great hall is mesmerizing! The Babe, Lou Gerhig, Yogi Bera all the great hanging from the top. Along with The Wall everywhere.

In this review I will compare the arena version to the stadium version of Roger Waters The Wall.

The set list remained being as it is a full complete version of the wall. First set is the first album and the second set is the second album. Done in entirety!

The wall this time was over 230 feet long which a video projection on the wall took up the whole thing. There were fireworks in the beginning which were just massive. The ones on top went 30-40 feet about the stadium. The ones on the wall shot back and forth during ‘In The Flesh’.

In the back the sound was all around; screams and kids crying from the right and the left, Airplanes flying in all directions, Guns shooting… It was like you were right in the middle. Pink the pig flew around for quite a bit who was twice the size in a stadium apposed to the arena.

Overall I think it must be noted that The Wall is not a concert, as it’s an experience. We can only hope he has some more left in him.
