Pitbull featuring Havana Brown

Armando Cristian

Perez, aka Pitbull, Mr.305, Mr. Worldwide and you can now add Mr. Headliner. Pitbull has been headlining over in Europe since June and has come back to the States to tour before going to Australia. Pitbull does get around; just recently he went to Alaska after fans sent him there through a facebook page campaign by Walmart.

Playing tonight at Northerly Island in Chicago, if you never been to this venue, it’s a perfect location to show off the city as the stage faces the skyline of Chicago, as well as being right along the lakefront. With a warm summer breeze to get everyone into a South Beach, Miami club mood, they had a DJ open the set to play mixes for about 45 minutes, allowing the crowd to get warmed up with their dance moves.

Next up was DJ Havana Brown, whose hit, We Run the Night has been on the charts for months now and she just released her EP album, When the Lights Go Out. With a big lit up HB to hold her turntables, she played mostly a DJ set and at the end, sang one of her new songs before going into her big hit. Possessing beautiful looks to go along with her DJ skills, she was able to make the crowd jump and move as they waited for the man of the hour.

Cuban born rapper, Pitbull has for sure paid his dues, having seen him play small clubs of 100+, to now blowing up stages with over 10,000+ venues, shows the hard work and hustle paid off. Playing with a full band and a DJ, he came out to a huge roar as he entered with the intro of Mr. Worldwide, before going into Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor). Most of the songs played were never the full version due to the fact that a lot of Pitbull’s songs featured a guest artist in songs, I Like It, International Love and Rain Over Me. Pitbull shined when he rapped on songs Move Shake Drop, Bon Bon, Back In Time, and the party anthem, Culo.

The crowd was about 70% females vs. men and when Ai se eu te pego started, the place lit up and continued with Shake, I Know You Want Me and the J-Lo colabo, On the Floor. All the ladies went in the aisle to dance, as I’m sure many pictured they were dancing with Mr. 305.

The night ended with Hotel Room Service, I Gotta Feeling, Crazy People and his biggest hit to date, Give Me Everything. What seemed like just an hour, the set seemed to cut off too short and there was no encore. Not sure if this was due to the City curfew laws but it just seemed to end abruptly and the fans were unsure if to stay or leave. This for sure did not stop the fans from having a great time and the energy that Pitbull gives onstage is a site to see.

Be sure to check out the new album, Global Warming when it drops and if Mr. Worldwide is playing near, be sure you check out the show and get your groove on.
