The Hard Rock Hotel Casino presents The Noise Revolution Tour with Static X, 9 Electric, and Davey Suicide at Vinyl, Las Vegas, Nevada, August 29, 2012
The Noise Revolution Tour featuring Static X, with openers 9 Electric and Davey Suicide brought their show to Las Vegas’s newest, most highly anticipated venue, Vinyl, at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino. Vinyl is a no nonsense rock club, with plenty of wide open space to pack in the fans, and a low stage to get those fans up close and personal to the musicians.
Both the opening bands this night, 9 Electric and Davey Suicide, had the crowd in a frenzy early on. This was my first exposure to both bands, but I was impressed with their talent and their showmanship. The only musician in either band I know is guitarist Eric Griffin, who was formerly with The Murderdolls, Wednesday 13, The Genitorturers and The Dreaming and brought his signature style and sound with him to Davey Suicide. The band is fronted by Davey Suicide himself. It is impossible not to watch him, he’s sky tall with long blond dreadlocks and is a powerhouse on the stage. 9 Electric, fronted by Thunderwood, was nonstop action. Thunderwood was crowdsurfing, standing on the bass drum, and interacting with the fans without missing a note. He has that punk rock attitude and look about him that is reminiscent of Billy Idol. He won the crowd over as soon as he walked onstage and they wanted more when he was done.
Static X took the stage to Wisconsin Death Trip and the mosh pit was going as soon as the band cranked up. This lineup of Static X has Wayne Static backed by drummer Sean “Animal” Davidson; guitarist, Ashes; and bassist, Brent Ashley (who has this week announced he’s left Static X to focus on a new project). They played a long wild set and the crowd was loving it. Wayne’s fans are rabid, they turned out full force, many with their own versions of his signature hairstyle. The setlist for Static X this night was:
- Wisconsin Death Trip
- Black and White
- Bled for Days
- The Only
- Cold
- Dirthouse
- Assassins of Youth
- Destroyer
- Stingwray
- Just in Case
- Destroy All
- Cannibal
- This is Not
- Push It
- I’m with Stupid
- Love Dump
- Get to the Gone
