Cirque Du Soleil presents… Amaluna in Toronto, Canada this Fall.
Currently calling Toronto home, Amaluna is set in the city from September 6, 2012 to November 4, 2012. With a full touring team of 145, Amaluna brings back the authentic Circus feeling being hosted in a tent structure.
Miranda, the fun flirty daughter of Queen Prospera, embraces the journey of womanhood as she faces the difficulties throughout presented by the many acts all in her quest to find love. In addition to Miranda and her mother, other main characters included Romeo,the man behind Miranda’s lust, Cali the cheeky half-man, half-lizard as well as two humorous clowns who find love on their own. Amaluna boasts an extraordinary set of actors and performers, who play their parts very professionally and virtually always meet perfection. The costumes are mesmerizing, as well as the production, all acting as candy to the eye.
Providing an array of 12 different acrobatic acts, the enthused crowd let out gasps and “oooh’s” throughout the two and a half hour show. The ‘Icarian Games and Watermeteors’ as well ‘Uneven Bars’ were easily two of the many highlights throughout the eve. The ‘Icarian Games and Watermeteors’ showed strength and persistence as the acrobats spun one another, flipped one another, all while displaying a magnificent light show spinning lights throughout. The ‘Uneven Bars’ displayed a fast paced, physced up version of the classic olympic event Uneven Bars. These were among many of the acts leaving the crowd speechless.
The set displayed an island forest; as modern and simplistic trees were throughout the venue. The greens and blue within the show were majestic and added an intense vibe during. The show is accompanied with live music, including guitars, percussion, strings, and horns which are all matched with Prospera’s boasting voice.
Cirque Du Soleil is known for it’s word class productions which Amaluna easily represents throughout their talented force which bring us such show that Toronto is lucky to have for an extended period of time. With another month left, time is running out to catch it and I definitely recommend to do so.
