Mark Tremonti at the Bottom Lounge
Mark Tremonti from Creed and Alter Bridge can now add the band, Tremonti to his resume.
Tremonti features:
Mark Tremonti – Vocals, Lead Guitar
Eric Friedman – Rhythm Guitar
Garret Whitlock – Drums
Wolfgang Van Halen - Bass
MTR sat down with Mark and Garret to talk about the new solo album, band, touring and plans for the future.
Tremonti was scheduled to play at the House of Blues but due to singer, Prince being in town, his show was moved to the bottom lounge. While the HOB would have been better for the photographers to shoot at, the Bottom Lounge provided that old school of working your way up to the top venue with its dimly lit stage and with no barricade, so the fans were up close and personal. They opened the set with, Wish You Well and All I Was, off the new album of the same name.
Right off the bat, you noticed this is a much heavier show than either AB or Creed but with the Tremonti guitar licks just amped up x 10, you also noticed that Tremonti can sing. This is more than just a guitar hero wanting to do a solo project and throwing out insane licks to impress the guitar geeks, but a solid band and one of the best albums of 2012.
Playing for a solid hour some of the highlights were, Leave it Alone, the melodic, Proof and the head banger, So You’re Afraid. Also, playing the whole album through, fans can expect more in the upcoming dates in regards to covers or songs left off the album.
Wolfgang, while still very young plays a solid Bass and fit right in with Garret Whitlock’s intense drumming. Eric Friedman provides a nice balance of rhythm-playing, to go along with Tremonti’s heavy playing and they seem in perfect sync from their time touring together with Creed.
There was no encore and they ended with New Way Out and the hardest song on the album, Brains. Tremonti thanked the crowd and sounded very genuine and appreciative for their support coming out on a Sunday night. I, and I am sure many fans, were very thankful for giving us his everything, be it with Creed, Alter Bridge and now with the Tremonti Project. It’s a shame this tour is only 5 weeks and hope that the hardest working man in rock finds some time next year for another run.

i saw mark on the same bill as slash in newcastle-upon-tyne England.
the show was excellent and the song list was just as described here.
the bonus was he came on with slash and myles for the Slash encore and they played Rise today which was awesome…. it seems the bonds between the bands are forging an excellent working partnership which is great for us fans.
