Live Nation presents… Dragonette with guests Young Empires and Data Romance.

With both Young Empires and Data Romance opening up the entire tour, Data Romance was first up. This synth infused duo played a low-key set to start out the night.

Young Empires were next up, and this being my fourth time seeing them in just the past two and half months, they never fail to amaze me. Their energetic live show brings their music to life playing their hits which include ‘We Don’t Sleep Tonight’, and ‘White Doves’. Based out of Toronto, the four members of the band, Matthew, Jacob, Robert and Taylor brought out quite the crowd of their own as fans belted out the lyrics alongside lead singer Matt. Young Empires played a lively 45 minute set, adequately prepping the crowd for the evening.

Up next were headliners Dragonette. This three-some consists of Martina Sorbara, Dan Kurtz, and Joel Stouffer. It seems like just yesterday their 2007 hits such as ‘I Get Around’ and ‘Take It Like A Man’ were topping the charts but their production and stage presence definitely displays that they’ve been touring at least for the five years they’ve been flooding the radio. Playing to an intimate crowd at the Sound Academy, the trio are currently on support of their latest album ‘Bodyparts’. With a large amount of chart topping tracks, Dragonette included them all throughout their set, starting with ‘I Get Around’, which was followed by ‘Riot’ and ‘Live In This City’. ‘Pick Up The Phone’, ‘Fire In Your New Shoes’, and ‘My Legs’ were up next. Of course making sure to include their international hit ‘Hello’ as well as ‘Let It Go’, the band left stage not much later before coming back for a two-song encore which stated with ‘Cuckoo’.

At this point in time, the majority of pop-music fanatics across the country have seen Dragonette play. With saying that, if you haven’t you are missing out. The trio knows how to rock, and it’s evident they like to have fun doing it.
