The Chrome Showroom at Sante Fe Casino Las Vegas presents Michael Schenker Group.

Las Vegas hosted Michael Schenker Group again in October at the Santa Fe Chrome Room, and fans came out in mass to see Schenker and his Flying V’s tear up a set of early Scorps, UFO classics and MSG tunes for a new leg of the Temple of Rock tour. It has been about a year since the release of Schenker’s Temple of Rock, and MSG has been touring extensively since the release.

This leg the vocal duties were taken over by David Van Landing, as Robin McCauley is out for now dealing with health issues that have kept him from the fall touring dates. Van Landing has toured previously in the 90’s with MSG and no stranger to the material. The show started with no opener and straight into Scorps classics “Love Drive” and “Piece of Meat” and the fans rushed the stage and the pit was packed. Schenker played and interacted with fans, slapping hands and moving center stage for solos, giving everyone the chance to see him shred through MSG’s “Save Yourself “and “Assault Attack” and “Into the Arena” before heading into a string of UFO hits.

MSG pounded through “Shoot Shoot”, “Let it Roll”, “Love to Love”, “Natural Thing”, “Lights Out”…. the UFO set made the crowd go wild and fans were singing and horns were in the air for hit after hit. Schenker and band retired briefly, before returning for a powerhouse encore that started with “Armed and Dangerous” and “Rock Bottom” before Schenker got out the camera for his classic audience photo, and then the last song of the night, “Doctor Doctor”, and the cheers long after the lights went down.

Every MSG show is straight on, rock on, in your face, and seeing a legend like Schenker play live is always amazing and awe inspiring. The tour continues through mid November, check out the Schenker website to keep up with scheduled dates and more additions…http://www.michaelschenkerhimself.com/
