Live Nation presents… Kimbra with special guests The Stepkids at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Canada on October 27th, 2012.
It was their last show following Kimbra around on their North American tour, and The Stepkids kicked off the show with high energy. The use of projectors to light up the stage with moving pictures, patterns, and text provided an interesting light show and dynamic between the three members on stage. It was their first time playing in Toronto, but that didn’t stop the audience from dancing to their wild guitar riffs and impressive vocal ranges. They made sure to welcome the fans after the show at the merch stand.
Kimbra followed their set about a half hour later, skipping her way onto the stage at 10pm. The crowd, already impatient, roared at her arrival and didn’t hesitate to dance along energetically with her. Between bursts of animated dances and enthusiastic singing, Kimbra made three costume changes, all by ripping off different pieces of the dress she was wearing (including a cape and a skirt). There were obvious crowd favourites, such as ‘Cameo Lover’, ‘Two Way Street’, and ‘Limbo’. During ‘Settle Down’, Kimbra quieted the crowd to do a live recording of the intro that looped throughout the song. She exhibited un-hindered energy from beginning to end, hardly breaking a sweat.
There were uninterrupted cheers encouraging her to come on for the encore, for which the last song she brought on The Stepkids to close the show with ‘Call Me’. Needless to say, Kimbra was able to put on a show stopping performance that translated to a colourful, lively party.
