Live Nation presents the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with guests Rebirth Brass Band at The Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on November 24, 2012.
Standing in line to see the show that night, you could feel the excitement in the air.
The opening act, Rebirth Brass Band, did a great job warming up the crowd. Hailing from New Orleans, they have been together nearly as long as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (about 30 years). So kids, stay in your band class because it might mean touring with your favourite band one day!
As the crowds anticipation builds, you can tell their love for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and when the lights went down. Drummer, Chad Smith came on stage first and tore into the drums. He was followed by Michael Balzary a.k.a. Flea on bass and Josh Klinghoffer on the guitar. Anthony Kiedis ran out on stage and of course the crowd went mad. Flea and Anthony were wearing matching pants with one leg torn off and tube socks. After a couple of songs, they were also shirtless. They played their hits “Snow”, “Scar Tissue”, “Californication”, and “By The Way” with the help of their fans.
Between Flea laying down the bass solos, headbanging, running and all the jumping around, I got exhausted by just watching him. He even was walking around on his hands on stage at one point. Anthony also was running and jumping on stage, and I wonder where they get the stamina from!
After the band played their final song, Flea left the crowd with the message “Support all live music!”, no matter the genre. I sure will and hope you do too!
