Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Vinyl Las Vegas presents Tony Harnell and Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal…
Tony Harnell and Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal performed at an up close and personal acoustic show in the ‘newest small thing’ in Vegas, the Vinyl live rock club inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Thal took a night off with Guns and Roses (playing their Vegas residency at the Hard Rock this month) and sat in with former TNT vocalist Tony Harnell for an intimate night featuring classic covers at the hot new club. The set showcased 80′s powerhouse vocalist Harnell as well as Thal’s haunting vocal harmonies and guitar accompaniment as they treated the late night crowd to candid acoustic renditions of Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Boston, TNT and a taste of GnR, and chose other odds and ends at random or crowd suggestion for a real laid back interactive event. The songs wove an eclectic mix that showed just how well these two blend voices together, and showed off some not so often heard acoustic versions of classics like Boston’s “More than A Feeling” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love”.
The show was a one-off event to bring awareness for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, and part of the club’s bar yeild went to the Red Cross Relief Fund. Harnell took time to thank everyone for being there and being a part of the cause. Gunners DJ Ashba and Richard Fortus were spotted in the crowd, and it was a fun night of mingling and music for a worthy cause.
Longtime mutual fans, the timing came together for this show, and Harnell and Thal are also now collaborating on new works. Tony Harnell has been performing acoustically with a group of musicians that include guitarist Jason Hagen, Amy Harnell and Cassandra Sotos. Now with the addition of Thal, the lineup is working on an EP out in 2013, some of the proceeds from which will go to breast cancer research. The group plan to tour across the country going forward when GnR tour allows.
