Live Nation presents… Imagine Dragons with special guests Nico Vega and Atlas Genius at the Sound Academy on February 27, 2013 in Toronto, Canada.
“It’s been far to long Toronto” lead singer Dan Reynolds yells to the flood of a sold out crowd at the Sound Academy on a Wednesday night. As this band hit it huge right off the get-go with their debut studio album ‘Night Visions’, it gave no shock to me to see the fans in awe throughout their set.
Entering the stage the to an intro followed by ‘Round & Round’ the crowd was ready for what was to come. The production was one of the most unique setups I have seen at the Sound Academy, consisting of large drums, and a whole almost - wild African theme. Imagine Dragons is a 4-piece band hailing from viva Las Vegas, Nevada who sound near identical live as they do on the record.
The band continued with ‘Amsterdam’, ‘Tip Toe’, and ‘Hear Me’. Imagine Dragons fans are unique in the sense where they’re not just there to hear their top hits. Imagine Dragons fans (Dragoneers maybe?) listen to ‘Night Visions’ front to back, over and over again. How do I know this? Because I’ve listened to the album front to back, over and over again.
Continuing with ‘Cha-Ching’, ‘Rocks’, and my ultimate favourite ‘Radioactive’, Imagine Dragons rocked the Sound Academy. I don’t think a single fan left unpleased, nor dissatisfied with their set, and the vibe they gave off. Later on, ending off their set with a bang, they played ‘On Top of The World’, and ‘It’s Time’, before finishing off the night with their encore ‘Nothing Left To Say’. Reynolds promised they’d be back soon, and hinted towards the summer… let’s hope he’s true to his word.
