Warped Tour 2013 - White River Amphitheater, Auburn WA 6.15.2013
The punk rock summer camp-circus is back! It’s that time of year again. Ready to get your summer on?
This year Warped Tour launched in Seattle, or rather Auburn, WA at the White River Amphitheater. Although the down fall of this venue is the endless slow train of cars in and out of the venue in the middle of nowhere land USA, it proved to be quite worth the car time.
Headlining acts included, Black Veil Brides, Sleeping with Sirens, Motion City Soundtrack, Never Shout Never and many-many more! For all info on the tour check out www.vanswarpedtour.com, where you will find dates, cities, bands, and ticket info. Not to mention the 101 of warped tour. It’s worth it to check out. I promise!
Seattle welcomed the tour with fantastic sunny skies and smiling faces both kids and parents. This year’s Warped Tour theme is BEST DAY EVER . . . and I think most if not fans all would agree. The bands were great and eager to see the crowds on this inaugural show of 2013. There is something special about the first day of tour - anticipation and wondering what this summer will bring. Besides long hot days and the hum of diesel engine tour buses by night. And believe me they (bands) will all be tired and a little party sore by the end of the summer. Seattle has been on both ends of this tour and it definitely shows on the bands towards the end…it is one long HOT summer.
The kids coming out to see the bands get the opportunity to meet the bands, get signatures and photos with their favorite musician. Pretty cool. Bands play onstage for 20-30 min sets. There is never a dull moment with 6-7 stages all going at one time!
This year is a great mix of sounds. I can’t review all the bands there is not way to see ALL the bands on this tour. However, I did see some that are new to me as well as bands that have been around the block. Warped tour has it favs for sure. Australia’s Tonight Alive kicked butt! Great mix of Gwen Stefani/ No Doubt meets Paramore. I hope to see more of them in the future! The Summer Set -a pop rock band from Arizona formed in 2007 is touring on a new album ‘Legendary’ . Fun band great sound! Never Shout Never offers a peace sign on a US flag. This kid is funny, kind and a throwback to 1968! Having great charisma and with an ear to ear smile. I had to laugh at the youthful hippie kid. Fun set and played well! Atilla brought the dealth core sound, not my fav but hey – something for everyone. The crowd loved them, they made for great photos so eh… good band. The Acoustic basement stage boasted some great sets, to name a few one by William Becket formally of The Academy Is and also Craig Owens of Chiodos. The kids love Craigery for his screams, I was impressed with his voice. This guy has pipes!
Black Veil Brides closed the show. Andy Biersack is the charismatic front man and is fantastic at drawing in the crowd! This kid pans the crowd and then flashes that smile. In that moment he is connecting with you. Yep it’s awesome. Andy is not going anywhere his place is on the stage. This band recreates its look and keeps the fans wanting more. Their sound just keeps getting better and more mature. Andy is not afraid to crowd surf during his own set! Seriously - that happened! You never know what to expect and that part of what keeps this band interesting and fun! Christian Coma’s drum set is impressive to say the least. Go big or go home! The guitar talent is very impressive. Jake Pitts and Jinxx are equally amazing and talented at their craft. Metal solos and violins, awe-some to watch! Ashley Purdy draws the girls in with his outlaw good looks and sexy Bass. Literally covered in porn stars. Haha -Not kidding! It’s only Rock and Roll! This band has many fans and it’s share of haters too. They have dialed in their own uniqueness and hard working old-fashioned rock and roll. I think they have it figured out! A band not to miss this summer!
In the words of Blink 182 “I couldn’t wait for the summer and the warped tour!”
BEST DAY EVER 2013.
