As Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI ended its 11 day run, they had the biggest name of the festival play – the Eagles.
The Eagles have been around for over 40 years and have become a staple for classic rock stations and etched in the memories of the over-40’s rockers, with their harmonies, storytelling and guitar licks that had future guitar players learning in their rooms. With what can be the sunset to this legendry band, Don Henley has said to the press this could be the last tour for them and the aptly named tour, History of the Eagles.
Fans were treated to 3 hours of deep cuts and classics. The show opened with Don Henley and Glenn Frey sitting on stool and equipment case and with each song, introduced another member - Bernie Leadon, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh. Before the start of each song, they talked about the history of each. With a relaxed feel to start, they opened it up as the stage opened up for the full bands and touring players on Doolin-Dalton.
Each member was able to showcase their skills and Joe Walsh had the crowd on its feet during his solo work of In the City, Life’s Been Good and James Gang Funk #49.
They came out for a 2nd encore of Take it Easy, Rocky Mountain Way and Desperado, leaving the Milwaukee crowd on this beautiful night, a life time memory and if this was the last tour, a history lesson in the music of the Eagles.
