Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts Jo Anna Jackson August 5, 2013 Concerts | Tours, Las Vegas, USA The Pearl Theater at Palms Casino Las Vegas presents Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, June 1, 2013. I love Weiland and have had the incredible pleasure of seeing him when he has been ON 100%, and this was not one of those nights. Weiland hit the stage about a half hour late, rambled a few minutes about late planes and Elvis, and finally got into “Crackerman” to kick off the set. This Purple at the Core tour with his band the Wildabouts was a show built around Core and Purple cds played (at least mostly) in entirety, but unfortunately that didn’t include “Plush”. Or maybe it did. Was hard to tell at times. There was some excitement as Weiland did some rolling around on the stage and then a hike up the speaker stack to dismantle an American flag and wave it around, but the night was hit and miss as the vocals and the mix struggled. Weiland added a few covers throughout the set that included the Door’s “LA Woman”, Janes Addiction’s “Mountain Song”, and Bowie’s “Gene Genie”. He echoed the thin white duke with the suit and the swagger, and “Gene Genie” was one of the best songs of the night, he got all the words out and sounded like he got them right. But the powerful vocals and gripping stage persona that Weiland can be such a master of was missing.. Great suit though.
