Deftones - Opening Night, Hail to the King Tour, Chicago, Illinois, October 3, 2013

After a month off from touring, Deftones have returned to the road as they continue to support their last album Koi No Yokan.

Opening the show for Avenged Sevenfold along with Ghost B.C. this has become one of the highly anticipated fall tours.

Known for their dynamic live shows, tonight was no exception.

Opening with Rocket Skates & Diamond Eyes from the album DIAMOND EYES.

Right from the start they connected with the crowd and the floor moved along as a sea bodies drenched in red & blue colors.

The set list was a perfect blend of songs throughout their career, along with songs off Koi No Yokan.

Guitarist Stephen Carpenter was razor sharp on stage with his long hair flying and head banging to go along with the jumping bass line of Sergio Vega and the distinct drumming of Abe Cunningham.

Chino Moreno was all smiles and bouncing and moving all over the stage, your eyes could just stare at him and never get bored.

Many of the fans sang along to Tempest (there biggest single to date) and exploded when they played Swerve City and Change (In the House of Flies).

Closing out their 50 minute set with Passenger and 7 Words which saw the crowd moshing and bodies flying over heads gave a perfect ending a headliners dream to warm up a crowd.

You can catch the Deftones on this leg of the USA tour for Hail to the King; it’s a tour not to be missed if you’re a fan of any of these bands.
