Otherwise gives Chicago a night to remember! Photo by Peter Lizano Ever since their album, True Love Never Dies dropped, Otherwise have been on tour for the last 19 months. Based out in Las Vegas, they have lived by the motto, “what happens at an Otherwise shows stays at an Otherwise show.” Having a close bond with their fans and as band allowed them to connect with audiences right away. Music Tour Reviews got a chance to sit down with Ryan and Adrian Patrick (vocals issues forced him from talking) and Corky, to talk about how the album came about, their fans, and what to expect in the coming year. If you’ve never been to an Otherwise show, you are in for a treat and you would never know they are new to the rock world. Opening with Die For You, the crowd gets a sense that this is not just some opening band but a band they will be saying years from now they saw them from the start. The Patrick brothers are very charismatic performers - Adrian on vocals is very striking, with a shaved head and strong front man presences; Ryan on guitar, with his long dark hair and good looks, to go along with catchy hooks and runs. Bass player, Vassilios Metropoulos is a beast on stage, from his whipping around the stage to huge flying V jumps. Between him and Corky Gainsford on drums provided a heavy bass line that can go from a hip-hop beat to a hand banging kick drum. Rounding out Otherwise is Andrew Pugh on guitar. He is the controlled chaos of the group and brings it all in to as he rips into his guitar. You could never tell Adrian was having some vocal issues tonight as he sang as strong as ever with a lot of emotion. Songs included Lighthouse, Vegas Girl, I Don’t Apologize (1000 Pictures). During one of the songs, Vassilios jumped into the crowd with his bass and created a mosh pit with the fans. They ended their set with Soldiers; that had the crowd singing to the top of their lungs. As the song ended, both Adrian and Andrew jumped from onto one of their amps. While there are only a few dates left for Otherwise to play, this is a band to keep an eye on as they head into 2014 with recording a new album and a chance of playing overseas.
