Avenged Sevenfold gave their North American tour a roaring finale as they pummeled the arena in Vegas with leaping flames and explosions as the band raged into a high energy set complete with a cryptic castle backdrop and huge crowned skeletal “king” emerging from the flames…. a visual reference to the bands new cd release Hail to the King and the single of the same name. The new material is a tribute per say to some of the bands mentors and inspirations, with heavy nods to Metallica, GnR and Dio-inspired vocals, and filled with a multitude of genres including bits of goth, thrash, metal and grindcore, making it hard to say they have a distinctive ‘voice’ of their own on this release. Nonetheless AX7 are a huge force on the metal scene, racking up huge record sales and commercial success with their 6 albums to date, and ‘King’ is well on it’s way to keeping the band on top with a Billboard Number 1 first week.

Frontman M. Shadows set the night in motion and blasted into “Shepard of Fire” to a roar from the crowd, and spent most of his time right down front and center of the stage, singing straight into the audience with the staggering pyrotechnic show going on behind him. The nights set started out leaning heavy on the new ‘King’ tracks, with the opening number “Shepard”, “Requiem”, “Doing Time” and “This Means War”, but the fans did not miss out on the heavy radio hitters “Welcome to the Family” and “NIghtmare”. Metal for sure, and the AX7 fans were a hardcore bunch, packed up against the barricades until the final flaming finish.

The band is continuing their tour throughout Europe and the east, and you can get more tour, news and band info on their website at http://www.avengedsevenfold.com/shows
