Rehage Entertainment and Voodoo Experience 2013 present Billy Squier. Billy Squire at Voodoo Experience 2013 by JoAnna Jackson Billy Squier made an impressive stop at the Voodoo Experience Music festival, although he was all but drowned out by the overpowering EDM/rave stage across the field from where he was performing. Squier came onstage simply, with only an electric guitar and a microphone, and after commenting on the intruding noise coming from across the way he just… turned up. Loud. Squier drew a pretty large crowd, he’s not on the regular touring roster these days and for many this was a once in a lifetime chance to hear the 30 year old hits again live. Squier sounded great vocally, and the songs still stand up as solid classic rock even now, and the solo guitar and stoic stage setup gave the songs an intimacy lacking in the bulk of the festival acts. Squier played through his radio hits “Lonely is the Night”, “She’s a Runner”, “Learn How to Live”, and “Everybody Wants You” with the small stage crowd singing along. The climax of the show was Squier joined by local backup brass band The Stooges who lended a hand for Squier’s biggest hit “The Stroke”.
